APRIL 2022

9:30 AM | Youth Education: A Day in the Life of a Farmer & Rancher
Local Farm/Ranch near Trinidad, CO

While a lot of kids in our agricultural watershed understand what it takes to keep the family farm or ranch running, many others raised in Trinidad or transplanted here from other urban hubs haven’t seen first hand how river water is moved and used to grow our food, what it’s like to find eggs under chickens instead of under fluorescent lights at the grocery store, or what is involved in taking care of and raising livestock. At this exciting youth event we’ll see and learn about the new baby animals of spring, learn what a ditch rider does and how a river ‘call’ is made, help an irrigator operate his headgate and move water from the river miles away to his farm, and learn what it takes to keep an operation running smoothly! All kids get a brand new farm & ranch hat, key educational materials, and free pizza lunch!
